What is Hypnobirthing?

During the past few decades, we have learned that fear and stress can make childbirth longer, more challenging and more painful. HypnoBirthing helps women and their birth partners to work towards a calm, relaxed and positive birth. HypnoBirthing teaches tools that can be used during your birth, helping parents to be more prepared and proactive.   Practicing HypnoBirthing helps you to take the reins and move towards the best outcome.  The BirthWorks HypnoBirthing program gives you information and practical advice on how to feel more self-confident and helps you to access and trust your innate, birthing power.

HypnoBirthing has been gaining popularity as a method for navigating childbirth and achieving better outcomes for parents and babies since its emergence in the late 80's.  There are now huge numbers of mums and dads, all over the world, using HypnoBirthing to create beautiful births and enabling new parents to welcome their babies into the world in the best possible way.

BirthWorks Hypnobirthing offers flexible classes at reasonable prices, run at times that suit individual and group settings.

What is a Doula?

The term Doula was first coined by the breastfeeding campaigner, Dana Raphael, in 1973, to describe someone who provides physical, mental and spiritual support for women after childbirth.  Her comments were made in an article where she talked about the increased number of mothers who were successfully breastfeeding their babies after receiving this kind of support.  The word 'Doula' has since come to mean the comforting presence of a trusted supporter, and advocate, during childbirth as well as assisting the postpartum period.  More recently, this role has developed into a vocational profession in which women are serving the community as Doulas globally.

A 21st-century Doula's job is to support women and their families during pregnancy, birth and after the baby has been born.  A Doula will be there every step of the way to provide emotional support, information and practical advice.  When you hire a Doula you develop a strong relationship that enables her to meet your specific and unique needs.  A Doula is able to work with you, helping you plan and prepare for the birth of your baby, and for the precious bonding weeks afterward.   A BirthWorks Doula will listen to, respect, and advocate for you and will be there as a trusted professional and friend.
